Coffee by day.
Wine by night.

A café and wine bar in the heart of downtown Ruston. Locally roasted coffee, lunch worth lingering over, charcuterie boards made for sharing, and something happening most nights of the week.

Checking today's hours…

One room, two personalities

The Local changes as the day goes on. Come for an espresso at eight, come back for a glass of wine and live music at seven. Here is how the day usually goes.

A coffee shop

Locally roasted espresso and drip, teas, and pastries baked that morning. Avocado toast, bagel sandwiches, açaí and yogurt bowls. Good wifi, better chairs.

A lunch spot

Hot wraps, flatbreads, deli sandwiches on French bread or croissant, and salads with a Mediterranean lean. Eat in, take it to go, or have it delivered.

A wine bar

Wines by the glass, local and imported beer, craft cocktails, and charcuterie boards built from locally and internationally sourced meats and cheeses.

A night out

Live music on the weekends, trivia on Thursdays, bingo on Fridays, wine tastings, and Sunday brunch with a guitar in the corner. Your local spot.

What's on

Wine Wednesdays, trivia, bingo, live music, and the occasional ticketed tasting. Pick a day to see what's happening, or scan the list.

    Jayne, owner of The Local

    Meet Jayne

"I wanted a place you could start your morning in and end your evening in, without ever feeling like you had to leave."

The Local opened as Board & Bottle and grew into the name the town was already using for it. Jayne owns and runs it, and she is usually the one greeting you at the door, tweaking the wine list, and booking the band. Her pimento cheese is on the menu under her own name.
